Costs of studying medicine abroad?

We tell you what costs you can expect if you want to study medicine abroad. Studying medicine abroad can involve additional costs compared to studying at home. At the programmes we offer international medical universities there are tuition fees which have to be paid per academic year or semester.

What costs can be incurred during your medical studies abroad?

  • Cost of living
  • Flat / Student residence
  • Books, laboratory / hospital clothing
  • Support from futuredoctor
  • Tuition fees

Food, basic supplies and leisure activities - the cost of living for a medical degree programme abroad at the locations we offer is around 10% to 20% lower than in Germany and Austria. Our students need average a monthly allowance of around €300 to €500.

Depending on whether you opt for a shared flat, a flat for yourself or a student hall of residence, the average monthly costs per person are between €250 and €600 per month.

In order to successfully complete your medical studies, you will need good study equipment. You should budget around €200 per semester for study materials and clinical clothing.

An anatomy atlas, lab coat and dissection kit for anatomy lessons are included in the futuredoctor starter pack.

In addition to the tuition fees at the university, there is also a cost contribution for our comprehensive support on your path to studying medicine.

What does that mean in concrete terms?
We accompany you personally - from the selection of your favourite university to successful admission and beyond during your studies. You will benefit from our experience, personalised advice, targeted preparation courses and direct contact with the universities. With a success rate of over 95 %, our applicants usually find a suitable university place within a short period of time.

Our costs at a glance:

  • One-off application fee: 900 euros (application to 3 universities included) - for applications to up to three universities.
  • Additional options: The surcharge for each additional university is €300.
  • Success-based placement fee: A fee is only payable to us in the amount of the annual tuition fee (two semesters) of the chosen university if the student is successfully placed and accepts a study place.

💡 Important for you:
If, for example, you are offered a place to study human medicine or dentistry in Germany, Austria or Switzerland and therefore decide against studying abroad, our placement fee does not apply.

We are there for you - even after your place has been allocated

Our service does not end with your acceptance. We prepare you for the selection process and degree programme with targeted courses and also support you during your first steps on site. This way, you will be well prepared for your new life as a medical student abroad.
